Non-compliance of the photobadges of several organizations with the GDPR

The President of the Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) has given formal notice to several organizations that use a badge access control system to comply with the General Data Protection Regulations within three months of the issuance of these notices.

The formal notices were issued following six complaints filed by public officials and employees with the CNIL against the use of photo badges by their employers.

The special feature of this system is that a photograph is taken of employees at each registration, which the CNIL considered disproportionate in this case.
